Online Scholatic Book Fair

The online book fair begins today!  It will run for 2 weeks!  You can see the books by visiting this website:

You will click on the state, city, and school and it will take you to Whitt's page.  There are more books available than were at school.  This is an excellent resource for parents who work and were unable to come visit last week.  Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends who live far away can also purchase your child a book if they wish!  Whitt PTA will still receive the profit for the online book fair just like the one at Whitt last week!  Please let me know if you have any questions!

Also, teachers have created a wish list online. Simply click on 'Classroom Wish Lists' in the orange bar, click the grade level, then teacher!  You can purchase online! Have fun shopping and reading!!

Parent Toolbox

Another teacher (Teaching with TLC) posted GREAT information for PARENTS on creating the best learning environment for kids.  Click on the toolbox to check out this super resource when you have some time!

New Student Links

While doing some blog hopping today (thanks Little Literacy Learners!) , I learned about two new sites that have read alouds! These can be used in the classroom during whole group instruction, at your computer station, listening station, or accessed from home.  I added them to my Student Links! Check them out!

Vacation Time!!

Vacations are one of my favorite parts of summer! I have so many great memories of road trips with my family as a kid.  I also remember how my mom planned to keep my sister and I entertained along the way.  I came across a new blog: Musings of Me.  She has posted a FREE Vacation Journal for kids in her TpT store!  It is super cute!  Kids can keep track of where they went, who they met, how they got there, and much more! Go check out her blog and TpT store!

Summer Reading

Here are some summer reading programs your child could participate in:

Barnes and Noble: Read any 8 books, turn in your journal (that you can download on their website!), and pick one FREE book from their list!!!

Half Price Books: Check out their website for reading tips for kids, printable reading logs, and reading certificates.  Once you complete their reading log, you can earn HPB Back-to-School Bucks to spend on any book you choose!!

Borders: Read 10 books, get 1 FREE book! Check out the website for details!

Grand Prairie Library: Kids' Summer Reading Challenge- check out dates for puppeteers and storytellers as well!

I also came upon a Program Locator.  Type in your zip code to find more summer reading programs!

HAPPY READING!!!
